Department of Materials Science and Non-Ferrous Metals Engineering was founded on September 25th, 2013 according to the decision of Senate of AGH-UST.

The Department realizes research and scientific program regarding materials science in the field of non-ferrous metals.

The Department presents a wide offer of research and technical services regarding the following: design of new alloys, production of modern metallic materials and studies of mechanical, physical and structural properties. The above mentioned goals are achieved by means of modern and unique research equipment.

Studies on analysis of structure and mechanical properties of alloys of non-ferrous metals, coated materials, powders, metallic composites and sintered composites are conducted.

The mentioned topics are put into practice within the frames of research projects, cooperation with domestic institutions such as Warsaw University of Technology, Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science of Polish Academy of Sciences, Krakow, Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals in Gliwice and Skawina as well as foreign institutions in Austria, India, Canada, Germany and Italy.
